Two Major 30 Million Ton Steel Giants, Withdrawing From the Fortune Global 500

On August 2, 2023, the Fortune Plus app released the latest Fortune Global 500 list in sync with the world. According to the list, among the top 500 companies this year, there are a total of 17 in steel industry, with Chinese steel companies occupying 11 positions; Compared to the number of steel companies listed on the Fortune Global 500 in 2022, which decreased by two, Tata Steel and Shandong Steel Group were not included in the list.


In the 2023 Fortune Global 500 list, there were a total of 17 steel companies in the steel industry. Among them, Baowu ranked first in the world's steel industry with a revenue of approximately $161.7 billion, while ArcelorMittal and POSCO Steel ranked second and third in the world with revenue of $79.8 billion and $65.8 billion respectively.

Among the 17 steel companies on the list, there are a total of 11 Chinese steel companies, including five private steel companies, namely Qingshan Holdings, Jingye Group, Shagang Group, Delong Group, and Jianlong Group.

Although the strength of the steel industry cannot be underestimated, looking at the entire business community, the ranking and revenue of the steel industry in 2023 are not significant. Among the top 100 of the Fortune Global 500, only China's Baowu is on the list, and among the top 200, only Baowu and ArcelorMittal are on the list.
